Current Status

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to let you know that I am currently in a transition state. A transition state (for me) is when I switch over to the Wattpad App. Since I am an avid reader, I can never go three hours without reading a book (that often leads me to problems). 

So when I go to the library I often walk out with a huge stack of books. But those books only seem to last so long. And when they're gone... I go into a panic.

But that was before I found Wattpad. Now that I have Wattpad, I can honestly say that my life has been changed (for the better). When I don't have any books to read, I can make the time more bearable. One thing I think is awesome with Wattpad is all of the books posted have been written by regular people (I mean people like you and I). On Wattpad there is a variety of books. Some books are written like professional pieces, and then there are some that are just crappy (I've seen a book that was just one long run on sentence).

I typically read the ones that are well written. The book I'm reading now is The Quirky Tale of April Hale. It's really good! It's about a girl named April Hale (obviously) who has asperger, and how she sees the world. 

Is it Worth Reading?

I remember in sixth grade this book was "the stuff". People would always suggest reading it. Even when I recently borrowed it from the school library, I was constantly getting, "That book is SO good." or "OMG I love that book." I can honestly say, I wasn't feeling the book.

The book was nothing like expected. I was just waiting to be blown away by the story hidden between the pages, but the only word I can use to describe the book is:

Standstill

We meet Cassia (The main character) and watch the events of the blurb take place in an excruciatingly slow pace (I'm talking like 40 pages). Then the book ends without actually resolving anything because there is no action, dilemma, or anything to resolve. Except for the point-less love triangle that the whole book is focused on.

During the entire book I never felt for Cassia. I just feel like she's this emotionless blob, even when she's crying. I don't know if this is because she's drowning in cliches, or because I could never get emotionally attached to her. Every time she spoke, it was like a robot was doing voice-over. The same goes for Ky and Xander. They're both sweet boys, but they're just cardboard cutouts: Ky being the mysterious, brooding outcast and Xander being the sweet and lovable childhood friend. 

Now here's a positive about the book. The writing stylewas awesome. It was so elegant and detailed. While reading the book I felt that every detail was maliciously thought out. 

In conclusion, if a little more action was added to the plot and the characters were spruced up, then I would have really loved this book. But it might work for people who don't have such a need for action sprinkles on their icecream. It just didn't work for me.I had to literally forced myself to read another page or two, and accept some of the ridiculous concepts mentioned. 

It's All Over

I just can't let it go. It's been sitting in the same spot collecting dust for a little over three months, getting the occasional glance. Not able to bring myself to read it because the truth is, I'd like to think that after I finish the last book my life won't end, but in all honesty... it will. I've let these books be a key part of my life for the last three years, and without it I don't know what to do. So yeah when I brought the book I shead a few tears, (while the cashier man at the book store looked at me like I was crazy.) but this book, no this series means the world to me. It signifies my early teen and mid-teen years. 

By this point I know you all are wondering what this book/series is. The Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout was the turning point is my reading career. (Can I even call it that?) Anyway, I only picked up the book because I wanted try something new and strange, hence me choosing a book with a strange cover. I mean can you get any stranger than hot aliens, mutation, Area 51, and kidnappings. I think not!

The Maze Runner: Book vs. Movie

Whoa! Holy Crap! Wait, what just happened?, were all words I thought while reading Mazer Runner by James Dashner. I read the book about three years, but recently decided to re-read it now that that movie was coming out. I'm going to start with my book review and then do a movie review, because although both followed the same story plot, they are very different.

The book starts off quickly with Thomas getting out of the box and wondering what happened to him. And I gotta say everything went by so quickly that I was were just as confused as Thomas was. All of sudden he’s trapped in this camp (the glades) full of crazy boys that have lots of secrets. Even though he’s never met any of them before (or so he thinks), he can’t shake of a feeling of Déjà vu. Especially when things around him go from bad to worse. They have a mini society with a few leaders. Alby, Newt, and Gally. They each have their own jobs. There are slicers and runners, some to cook and others to garden. Everything is going smoothly, the only problem being that they can’t get out. Not only can they not get out but they’re also cursed by grievers. After a boy gets stung by one they go through the changing. They’ve tried literally everything but nothing has changed that is until Theresa  gets there.

For the first time since the boys have been in the glades, a girl arrives in the box. And no one knows what to do. Things worsen when they realize that the maze has changed. They now have to get out or die. This is where the movie and the book start to differ. In the book everything happens very slowly (over a course of months), while in the movie, it happens in 3 days! Also Thomas and Theresa also have a special telepathic relationship which was cute.

Now to the movie. That was awesome! To say it was suspenseful was not enough, by the end I felt as if I had just ran an entire marathon alone.

The movie and the book are very different, but they were both well done and the movie sustains the relationship each character has with each other (Not adding a romance not even written in the book, like most books nowadays). They even have the same words like “Shuck it” and “Shank”. One reason as to why I liked the movie way more than the book, was because of my hormones. I mean there were like 8 HOT guys with AMAZING abs, imagining them is fine but seeing them acting while saying the words? I Literally Died!

A Little About Myself and My Reading

Hello guys,

First I would like to welcome you to my blog. In this first post I just wanted you guys to get to know a little more about me. So let start off with the basics. 

My name is Faith D'An Joi Nixon. I am thirteen years old (My birthday is in three days! I'll be fourteen. Whoop Whoop!) My favorite color is turquoise. I live with my mother and I am an only child. When reading I prefer reading paranormal romance, fantasy, or science fiction books, but I can dabble in a bit of everything. I am an avid reader. During the school year I usually read three or four books a week, while during the summer six to seven a week. The book length usually range from 400 to 1,000 pages. I know most people wonder how someone can read so much. To make a long story short, I haven't had cable since second grade. When most people are watching T.V., I'm reading. I also enjoy reading myself to sleep every night. (Is it just me or did that sound a bit creepy...)

Anyway my favorite author is Jennifer L. Armentrout. I just love her books! They always have the perfect mix of pop culture and fantasy, making it an unique mix of awesomeness. My top two favorite books are by her.

But I still enjoy her other books too.

My third favorite book is Shadow of the Mark by Leigh Fallon. After reading the story, I was haunted for days. (But not in a scary way.) All I could think about was, what's going to happen to Megan and Adam. And when does the next book come out?

Significant by Shelly Crane is my fourth favorite book. I found the series addicting, and couldn't put it down until I finished the complete series.

My fifth and final favorite book is Predestined by Abbi Glines. The first book in this dark series kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time while reading it. This being the second book in the series was twice as good as the first book. I fell in love with both main characters.
